I'll guess what's going on:

Gumball receives a mysterious ring given to him by an older Carrie (whom he doesn't recognize). She comes from a future where an ancient evil rules. The ring gives Gumball a power. A deep, great power. A power he can't control. Gumball, while being controlled by his new power, must destroy the evil and save the future and present.
